Eleven Sri Lankan players picked for BPL 2024

The player draft of the 10th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) was held yesterday (24th) in Dhaka. Five Sri Lankan players were signed directly ahead of the draft while six players were picked on the day.

Accordingly, star leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and young slinga Matheesha Pathirana were direct signings by Rangpur Riders while Dhananjaya De Silva and Chathuranga De Silva were pre-signed by Khulna Tigers and Durdanto Dhaka, respectively. The former U19 Captain and upcoming star Dunith Wellalage was signed by Fortune Barishal ahead of the player draft.

The Sri Lankan limited-overs skipper Dasun Shanaka and Kasun Rajitha were picked by Khulna Tigers while wicketkeeper batter Sadeera Samarawickrama and Lahiru Samarakoon were picked for Durdanto Dhaka in the player draft. Apart from them, national-capped leg spinner Dushan Hemantha was drafted by Sylhet Strikers while Fortune Barishal picked the veteran keeper batter Dinesh Chandimal.

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 is scheduled to take place in January next year with seven teams in participation – Fortune Barishal, Chattogram Challengers, Comilla Victorians, Durdanto Dhaka, Rangpur Riders, Sylhet Strikers, Khulna Tigers
