St. Anthony’s College managed to take major honours in the 102nd Hill Country Battle of the Blues against Trinity College, Kandy which ended in a draw yesterday (09) at St. Anthony’s College grounds.
St. Anthony’s in driving seat after dominant batting performance
Trinity College had their work cut out on the second day of the encounter as they resumed their innings on 20 runs for 1 wicket with a mammoth deficit of 278 runs and the pitch increasingly assisting spin. The visitors did not show a better batting display as they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 173 runs.
Pubudu Bandara top scored with a knock of 60 runs off 99 balls which includes 8 fours and 2 sixes. In addition Chanuka Kumarasinghe added a valuable 33 runs for the visitors. Kumarasinghe’s knock came off 77 balls with 6 boundaries.

Antonian spinner Nimnaka Jayathilake who has crossed the 100 wicket mark this season, used the conditions to his favour and picked up 5 wickets for 57 runs in 28 overs. In addition, Sasith Hirudika grabbed 3 scalps for just 8 runs in 11.1 overs which included 7 maidens.
