Another week of AIA Premier League 2015/16 – Super Eight matches concluded on Sunday with SSC, Galle CC, Ragama CC and Tamil Union C & AC recording comprehensive victories.

SSC vs Moors

Kaushal Silva starred with the bat scoring 211 as SSC defeated Moors by 8 wickets at Bloomfield grounds.

After posting 544 on the board, SSC dismissed Moors twice for 302 and 360 respectively with Danushka Gunathilake and Tharindu Rathnayake doing the honours with the ball sharing 13 wickets between them. Wicket-keeper batsman Denuwan Rajakaruna excelled with the bat for the team from Braybrooke Place as he made 81 and 77 respectively in both the innings. SSC reached the target of 119 losing only 2 wickets.

SSC – 544/8 declared in 128 overs: Kaushal Silva 211, Danushka Gunathilaka 75, Kavindu Kulasekara 90, Thilina Kandamby 50, Wimukthi Perera 2/90, Sanitha De Mel 2/62.

Moors – 302 all out in 73.2 overs: Denuwan Rajakaruna 81, Sachithra Serasinghe 46, Malinda Pushpakumara 42, Tharindu Rathnayaka 3/107, Danushka Gunathilake 3/61.

Moors (2nd inn F/O) – 360 all out in 78.2 overs: Mahela Udawatta 96, Irosh Samarasooriya 80, Denuwan Rajakaruna 77, Dilhara Lokuhettige 59, Danushka Gunathilake 3/116, Tharindu Rathnayake 4/127.

Ragama vs Colts

Ragama CC ended a 15-year old wait as they defeated Colts CC by 96 runs at SSC grounds.

Former Sri Lanka U19 skipper Chathura Peiris captured an 8-wicket match bag while his school mate, Lahiru Milantha aggregated over 200 runs during the match including a magnificent century in the second innings. After losing on the first innings, Ragama came back strongly to register a memorable win.

Ragama – 264 all out in 76.1 overs: Lahiru Milantha 61, Chanaka Wijesinghe 43, Chathura Peiris 36, Ali Khan 4/60, Dilruwan Perera 3/70, Akila Dananjaya 2/32.

Colts – 276 all out in 65 overs: Sadeera Samarawickrama 103, Ishan Jayarathne 62, Chathura Peiris 5/69, Sahan Nanayakkara 2/37, Amila Aponso 2/75.

Ragama (2nd inn) – 358/8 declared in 94 overs: Udara Jayasundara 61, Lahiru Milantha 141, Roshene Silva 42, Dilruwan Perera 3/97, Prabath Jayasuriya 2/60, Akila Dananjaya 2/80.

Colts (2nd inn) – 254 all out in 60.5 overs: Priyamal Perera 66*, Sadeera Samarawickrama 33, Chathura Peiris 3/52, Nilanka Premarathne 3/48, Amila Aponso 2/45.


Galle vs CCC

Galle CC reclaimed their spot in the top of the standings by beating CCC by 194 runs at Colts grounds.

Suraj Randiv picked up a match bag of 9 for 132 as Galle restricted CCC for low scores of 202 and 150 in both the innings after Chamara Silva and Harsha Vithana made scores of 89 and 91 respectively to help Galle reach a score of 344 in their first innings. Wicket-keeper batsman Lasith Abeyrathne shined for the losing team scoring twin half-centuries.

Galle – 344 all out in 73.5 overs: Harsha Vithana 91, Chamara Silva 89, Rumesh Buddika 65, Dilesh Gunarathne 4/68, Sajith Pathirana 3/104.

Galle (2nd inn) – 202 all out in 53.2 overs: Nisal Rangika 58, TN Sampath 53, Sachith Pathirana 3/55, Lakshan Sandakan 3/26.

CCC (2nd inn) – 150 all out in 37.4 overs: Lasith Abeyratne 60*, Charitha Buddika 2/16, Suraj Randiv 4/62, Gayan Sirisoma 2/51.


NCC vs Tamil Union

The title favourites, Tamil Union C & AC annihilated the strong NCC outfit by 169 runs at R. Premadasa Stadium.

Fast-bowler Shaminda Eranga was the pick of the bowlers for the winners as he picked up 9 wickets in the match to be the chief wrecker for NCC. Tamil Union skipper Suranga Lakmal picked up 6 wickets as well. Jeewan Mendis of Tamil Union and Upul Tharanga of NCC stroked centuries.

Tamil Union – 369 all out in 95.3 overs: Jeevan Mendis 132, Kithruwan Vithanage 82, Tharanga Paranavithana 31, Farveez Maharoof 3/74, Chamikara Edirisinghe 3/55.

NCC – 282 all out in 64.3 overs:  Upul Tharanga 111, Angelo Perera 51, Shaminda Eranga 5/63, Suranga Lakmal 3/70.
