Southern Province will meet North Central Province in the final of the “Prima Champions Trophy” under 15 inter-provincial tournament on 7th October at Colts ground in Colombo.
Southern Province advanced to the semi-final as group champions of group ‘A’. Southern Province played 4 matches and they won 3 matches against WP South Outer, WP South and Northern Province.
North Central Province made their way into the semi-final by winning group ‘B’. North Central Province played 4 matches and they won 3 matches against WP North, Central Province and Eastern Province.
Southern Province will be led by Nipun Malinga of Vidyaloka College, Galle while North Central Province will be led by Kaveen Bandara of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala.
Southern Province beat WP North Outer by 7 wickets in the semi-final played at Welagedara Stadium Kurunegala. The 2nd semi-final was interuppted due to rain between North Central Province and WP South at Surrey grounds in Maggona. North Central Province entered into the final as the champion of group ‘B’ according to the tournament rules.
