Nathasha Sadavinee Siwrathna of Visakha Vidyalaya and Dewmith Weerasena of Lyceum International School Nugegoda were named the most outstanding players of the recently concluded Western Province Ranking Table Tennis Championship held at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium on the 7th of November.
The event which was organized by Gold Star Table Tennis Club, Gampaha, saw the participation of girls and boys competing in 6 different age categories: Under 8, 10, 12, 15, 18 and Open.
Siwrathna took out the under 15, 18 and Open girls’ titles and while Weerasena faced a tougher challenge as he faced Helitha Hendavitharana of Royal College in the under 18 and Open boys’ finals. He emerged victorious in the under 15 and 18 categories whereas Hendavitharana got the better of him in the open category.
It was a good tournament for Visakha Vidyalaya too as they captured 5 of the available 6 titles in the Girls’ category, with Sanaya Buddhadasa and Siwrathna emerging victorious.
