The hosted by Asian International School, witnessed its first day at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex yesterday.
The event is scheduled to take place on the 6th and 7th of November 2015.
The day’s events comprised of 57 events in total including the 100m freestyle and backstroke events, 50m breast stroke, backstroke and butterfly events, 200m individual medley races and the mixed medley relay in the open age group, which took place in two phases.

The first phase which began with the mixed open category medley race was won by Lyceum International School, Wattala and ended with Lyceum Wattala, winners of the title for the last three years, topping the ranks with an early lead of 76 points ahead of Gateway Colombo and Asian International School. Lahiru L.A. (Boys’ 16 and over 50m breaststroke) and Diluk Jayatileke (Boys’ 14-15 category 50m breaststroke) of Lyceum Wattala, Araliya Gunasekera (12-13 year Girls’ 100m backstroke) and Alvin Arulmaran (12-13 year boys’ 100m backstroke) of Gateway College took honours in the first half by breaking meet records in their respective events.
The consecutive events worked off in the afternoon session witnessed six meet records being shattered by Stephan Perera (Gateway) and Rakitha de Silva (LISW) in the 14-15 year boys’ 100 freestyle event, Tevindri Methulini (LISW) and Rukshala Wijesinghe (Gateway) in the Under 9 50m backstroke event, Ushan Gunaratne (Lyceum Ratnapura) in the Boys’ 16 and over 50m butterfly event, Alvin Arulmaran (Gateway) in the 12-13 year boys’ 50m back stoke event, Danidu de Costa (LISN)in the 14-15 year boys’ 50m Backstroke event and Radush Sathasivam (LISW) who broke his own record from last year in the 14-15 year boys’ 50m butterfly event. Special mention must be made of the fact that Alvin Arulmaran of Gateway College and Danidu de Costa broke two meet records each in their respective events.
The end of the day’s proceedings proved that Lyceum International School, Wattala was determined to continue their winning streak of the past years with their massive total score of 621 points, leading by 165 points from Gateway, Colombo who scored 456 points and was ranked second. The latter session of day one saw a change in the point tables as Lyceum, Nugegoda surpassed AIS to secure third place with their score of 317 points.
