The second day of the 21st Inter International Schools’ Swimming Meet for 2015/2016 ended in style as defending champions, Lyceum International School emerged victorious with an incredible total of 1262 points, well ahead of Gateway College, Colombo who scored 974 points  and Lyceum Nugegoda who scored 588 points, being placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Held in a span of two days at the Sugathadasa International Swimming Complex pool with the participation of twenty one international schools, the meet was in favour of the swimmers of the ultimate champions, from the first day.

Securing first place in twenty one of the fifty seven events that were worked off on day one, Lyceum Wattala scored 621 points taking the lead from Gateway Colombo (456 points) and Lyceum Nugegoda (317 points).The swimmers from Lyceum, Wattala continued to dominate the pool on the second day, with impressive wins in twelve out of the twenty relays that were worked off at the meet.

Inter international swimming meetDuring the 106 events that took place, in total, twenty six individual meet records and two new relay meet records were established. Radush Sathasivam of Lyceum International School, Wattala had three records to his name at the conclusion of the meet as he and Rakshith Karunanayake of British School, Colombo displayed their prowess on day two by establishing two meet records, each.

Rakshith Karunanayake’s two records were in the Boys’ 14-15 200 LC metre freestyle event and Boys’ 14-15 100 LC Butterfly event. Radush Sathasivam, also, established a record in the Boys’ 14-15 100 LC Butterfly event apart from his record in the Boys 14-15 50 LC metre freestyle event.

More  meet records were shattered by Thimali Bandara  (Lyceum Wattala) in the Girls’ 12-13 200 LC metre freestyle event, Deekshi Gunasekera  (Lyceum Wattala ) in the Girls’ 14-15 200 LC metre Freestyle event, Kavin Weerasinghe (CIS Colombo) in the Boys’ 16 and over 100 LC metre Butterfly event, Senu Perera (Lyceum Panadura) in the Boys’ 12-13 50 LC metre freestyle, Stephen Perera (Gateway Colombo) in the boys’ 14-15 50 LC metre freestyle event and Dilruk Jayatileke  (Lyceum Wattala ) in the Boys’ 14-15 100 LC metre Breastroke event. The two new relay meet records were both set by Lyceum International School, Wattala in the Girls’ 12-13 50 LC metre medley event by clocking 2:29.55 and Boys’ 14-15 50 LC metre medley with a timing of 2:00.58.
