Inter-International Basketball: British School in some bother as Lyceum Girls take on CIS

Hosts of the tournament, British School did have a decent track record until the the lads from EMS counter-attacked them and took away the winning streak.British School Colombo coming into the game scored nine points and led the game by three points at the end of the first. Visitors opting for a slow start scored only six points.

Even though the visitors did settle themselves into the game the home lads did not give an inch of a chance to make an impact. They continued their dominance and added up another nineteen points into the total. Elizabeth Moir outfit not having the luxury of penetrating into the defense, managed only four points. British School Colombo led the game comfortably as the whistle blew for half-time.

Even though the hosts did have the better of the visitors during the first half, they dropped the ball during the second. Having a shaky offense and defense they leaked eleven points in the third quarter while they only secured two points. Bouncing back into the game, the confidence of the Moir boys were boosted up in full.

Continuing the good form, the visitors outsmarted the home lads in the final six hundred seconds to swap the fate of the game. Scoring a game best of nineteen points in reply to the jittery five points of the opponents, they made sure to cross the winning line without a hitch.

Girls from Lyceum Wattala took the early lead as they went on to score eight points in the starting quarter. CISC girls following right behind scored six points as they were slightly behind by two points.

Both the teams settling their nerves, got into the game were head to head in all departments during the second quarter. CISC getting the better of the Lyceum girls edged passed them with a point as they added up nine points during the second quarter. Girls from Wattala managed eight points and gave themselves another chance to breathe themselves into the competition.

After a much needed ten minute break, both sides needed different plans in their departments to oust one another. Lyceum girls emerging on top, diminished the hopes of the opponents and secured themselves eleven points in the 3rd quarter. The shaky offense of the CISC girls only got them three points which deemed them with pressure stepping into the fourth and the final quarter.

The final six hundred seconds was a close tussle as expected and both the teams capitalized on either one’s mistakes. Etching rebounds one after the other both outfits did have the second chance at the hoops. Converting every possession into points both the sides scored twelve points in the quarter.

Yet the difference of the earlier quarters came back to haunt the CISC girls as they suffered a loss with a double figure margin.
