A 3-way Water Polo tournament  between Nalanda College, D.S.Senanayake College and Thurstan College was worked off at the Police Pool yesterday.

An annual friendly triangular that commenced with swimming and slipped over to Water Polo as well, witnessed a fierce fight in the waters.

The first match was worked off between Nalanda vs Thurstan which ended in a win to hosts Nalanda 09-00.  The Nalanda team displayed dominance throughout the tournament.

D.S.Senanayake then thrashed Thurstan 07 -00 in the next match which sent Thurstan goalless and out of the tournament.

The 3rd match featured Nalada vs DS which was a prelude to the final as both teams had already qualified.  Nalanda held the upper hand scoring 04 goals to DS 01.

However, the Nalanda dominance was most obvious in the final where they had saved their best effort for the last, ripping apart the strong opposition of D.S.Senanayake for a 15-04 goal difference and taking the crown as worthy champions.

Nalanda – Bhanuka Wijesundara – 6,  Nimnaka Rathnayake – 5,  Gamika Kalmith – 2,  Chanuka Willarachchi – 1,  Dilanka Shehan - 1

DS - Sarith Nafees – 2,  Yohan Hanan – 1,  Jamesh Chathuranga - 1

With 13 goals, the outstanding player of the Tournament went to  Bhanuka Wijesundara of Nalanda College
