The 102nd Joes-Trinity cricket encounter ended today at Darley road with Josephians winning on 1st innings.
Trinity resuming day two on 92/3 were shot out for just 169 runs in reply to the Josephians 202 runs. Sachin Hewawasam and Priyamal Perera shared 6 wickets between them. Lakshitha Dissanayake was the top scorer with 29 runs and Ron Chandragupta, Arjuna Jayasinghe and Rajitha Wijetunge scored 24 runs each.
Josephians in their 2nd innings posted 149/8 with Priyamal Perera making an attacking 41 runs and Sadeera Samarawickrama scoring an elegant 29. Trinity left arm spinner Lakshan Jayasinghe took an impressive 5 wicket haul for 49 runs.
Trinity chasing a victory target of 183 runs crumbled to the Josephian bowlers and survived the day scoring only 118 losing 8 wickets. Skipper Sachin Hewawasam excelled with the ball taking 5 scalps for 37 runs. Lakshitha Dissanayake scored a classic 68 runs helping the Boys from Kandy to save the match.
