Peterite fast bowler Chemila Obeysekara struck Gold for the Peterites today in an one sided final between St. Peters College and St. Benedicts College of the Under 19 all island schools 50 over cricket tournament.

The tournament was organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and the final was played at Moors Sports Club grounds Colombo.
St. Benedict’s captain Dilan Angelo won the toss and elected to bat first and soon saw all his team plans not going according his way thanks to the Peterite bowling spearheaded by Chemila Obeysekara who ripped the heart of Bens batting line up with an amazing spell of seam bowling. Chemila had a dream day with the ball when he took 5 wickets including a hat-trick. Janith Liyanage and Sahan Nanayakkara also chipped in for the Peterites with 2 wickets apiece. St. Benedicts could only muster a mere 59 runs losing all their wickets in 30.2 Overs.
St. Peters chasing a small target of 60 runs did not have much trouble in getting there with wicket keeper batsman Lahiru Milantha guiding them home with an unbeaten 17 runs. St Peter’s college got the required runs in 13 over losing just 5 wickets.
Shasheen Fernando helped his team’s winning cause with 14 runs.
