The Kingswood College rugby club will host the Old Kingswoodian tag rugby tournament on the 29th of December.
The tournament which is organized by the Kingswood rugby club will take place at the Austasia Sports and Leisure club in Thalawatugoda starting from 9am.
The tournament will be played 5 aside with one reserve player making up the team.
Kingswood College was introduced to the oval shaped ball game in 1891 by their College founder L.E.Blaze and is the first team to take up the sport in the Island. In 2000 Kingswood won the President’s trophy for the 1st time under the captaincy of Chamara Withanage.
They then followed up their impressive runs in 2003, 2004 and 2005 winning the president’s trophy. Many Kingswoodians have gone on to represent the National team with some of the them being the bst in their positions.
Nalaka Weerakkody is the golden child of Kingswood College who is without a doubt one of the best players they have produced along with Nilfer Ibrahim, Chamara Vithange, Amjad Buksh, Fazil Marija, Gayan and Roshan Weeraratne are just some of the stars which they have produced.
