Dasun, Udara & Milantha smash superlative tons

SSC all-rounder Dasun Shanaka, Ragama openers, Udara Jayasundera and Lahiru Milantha, Saracens off-spinner Alankara Asanka and Chamara Silva of Galle CC smashed centuries on day two in the week 5 matches of the AIA Premier League Tournament 2015/16 on Sunday.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club and Colts Cricket Club completed their outright wins over Colombo Cricket Club and Badureliya Cricket Club respectively with one day to spare.

SL Ports Authority vs CCC

Chanaka Komasaru picked up a 10-wicket match bag as the defending champions beat the table toppers by 9 wickets at CCC grounds.

CCC after being 108 for 6 overnight were bowled out for only 126 setting an easy target of 91 which the visitors achieved inside 15 overs. Skipper Ashan Priyanjan raced to a 34-ball 50.

CCC – 92 all out in 30 overs: Sachith Pathirana 25, Lahiru Udara 20, Chanaka Komasaru 6/29, Aravinda Premaratne 2/22, Chaminda Bandara 2/21.

SL Ports – 128 all out in 26.4 overs: Gihan Rupasinghe 83, Sachith Pathirana 5/32, Hasitha Wickramasinghe 2/42, Lakshan Sandaken 3/33.

CCC (2nd inn) – 126 all out in 32.1 overs: Andy Solomons 40, Damith Priyadharshana 29, Aravinda Premarathne 3/21, Harsha Rajapaksa 2/13, Chanaka Komasaru 4/33.

SL Ports (2nd inn) – 93/1 in 14.2 overs: Ashan Priyanjan 50.

Badureliya vs Colts

Left-arm spinner Prabhath Jayasuriya took two five-wicket hauls as Colts crushed Badureliya by an innings and 46 runs at BRC grounds.

After being 315 for 7 overnight, Colts innings ended after batting only 7 more overs. Badureliya batsmen were completely outplayed by the spin trio of Prabhath, Dilruwan and Akila Dhananjaya.

Jayasuriya picked up a hat-trick with the wickets of Dulanjala Mendis, Abdul Cader, Chamath Goonesinghe. Left-handed Roscoe Thattil made a fighting half-century in the second innings for the losing team.

Colts – 344 all out in 89 overs: Sadeera Samarawickrama 65, Hashan Dumindu 86, Dilruwan Perera 38, Priyamal Perera 38, Dulanjala Mendis 3/76, Imesh Udayanga 2/77, Chamath Goonesinghe 3/77.

Badureliya (2nd inn) – 164 all out in 41.1 overs: Roscoe Thattil 57, Praveen Fernando 37, Prabhath Jayasuriya 5/58, Dilruwan Perera 2/31, Akila Dhananjaya 2/37.

SSC vs Galle

Fast-bowling all-rounder Dasun Shanaka blasted a 133-ball 108 inclusive of 10 mammoth sixes as SSC stayed in contention of a first-innings win against Galle CC at SSC grounds.

Chamara Silva’s 108 led Galle to a commanding score of 376. Dasun Shanaka showed excellent all-round ability as he picked up 6 wickets with the ball as well. SSC at the end of day two were 306 for 6.

Galle – 376 all out in 80.4 overs: Chamara Silva 108, Rumesh Buddhika 85, Nisal Randika 69, Dasun Shanaka 6/69, Kasun Madusanka 2/66.

SSC – 306/6 in 78 overs: Dasun Shanaka 108, Thilina Kandamby 82, Kavindu Kulasekara 33*, TM Sampath 3/45.



Tamil Union vs Ragama

Ragama CC’s Left-handed opening pair of Udara Jayasundera and Lahiru Milantha constructed a mammoth 229 opening stand which laid a solid platform to chase down Tamil Union’s first-innings score of 426 at P. Sara Oval grounds.

Recently debuted Sri Lankan Test player, Udara stroked a century on his birthday while 21-year former Peterite Lahiru Milantha remained unbeaten on 165 as Ragama reached 324 for 2 at stumps on day two.

Tamil Union – 426 all out in 95.5 overs: Dhananjaya De Silva 91, Sithara Gimhan 76, Jeewan Mendis 82, Manoj Sarathchandra 59, Ramith Rambukwella 29, Sanjaya Fernando 4/74, Amila Aponso 3/104, Chathura Peiris 2/80.

NCC vs SL Army

Chamikara Edirisinghe took yet another five-wicket haul as NCC took control of their match against Sri Lanka Army at Panagoda.

After being 61 for 4, Jehan Mubarak and former Sebastianite skipper Anuk Fernando slammed 78 and 79 respectively as NCC took the first-innings lead. Chamikara ripped through the Army 2nd innings as the Soldiers are only leading by 37 runs with only 2 wickets remaining.

SL Army – 190 all out in 56.5 overs: Asela Gunarathne 67*, Dushan Vimukthi 38, Shalika Karunanayake 30, Chamikara Edirisinghe 7/57.

NCC – 228 all out in 90.2 overs: Jehan Mubarak 78, Anuk Fernando 79, Nuwan Liyanapathirana 2/35, Seekkuge Prasanna 2/40.

SL Army (2nd inn) – 75/8 in 27 overs: Lakshan Edirisinghe 26, Chamikara 5/38, Jehan Mubarak 2/11.



Saracens vs Chilaw Marians

Tail-end batsman Alankara Asanka’s unbeaten century helped Saracens post 405 before declaring their first innings against Chilaw Marians at FTZ grounds in Katunayake.

Right-handed Asanka played out 176 balls for his 102 which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Chilaw Marians made 127 for 3 in reply.
