It was yet another disappointing day for CH & FC as the Air Force side cruised to their second win in the Dialog rugby league in the round two game that was played at the Royal College Complex this evening.

Ideally this could have been CH & FC’s only chance in getting a win by their side after losing the first round encounter with the Airmen in the final minute. The first few minutes of play portrayed a different CH side as the hefty CH forwards shoved through for the try. Inzam Irfan looked to give the Gymkhana club lads the momentum to last the full 80 minutes with the try, but it was too early for predictions.

Air Force SC vs CH & FCQuick to react, Air Force scored off a 5-meter penalty through the far side as Charith Seneviratne crossed over for the try. Unfortunately he missed the conversion for the try leaving the score 5-5. The second try for the Airmen came right from the restart as their backs worked forward and with fullback Nuwan Perera joining the line, they were over for the second. Seneviratne converted this sending them to the lead by 7 points (12-5).

Air Force who understood the fact of having a decent lead opted to go for points when they were awarded a 22m penalty. Charith Seneviratne was spot on in getting the kick through. With a ten-point lead in hand, Air Force went into lemons with intentions of extending the lead beyond ten points.

Despite the prep talk during the break, things didn’t seem to be going CH’s way at all. They failed in the cardinals of ball handling and ball carrying eventually giving way for their opponents to score. CH & FC however utilized a 22m penalty to get an additional three points on board off the boots of Janith Chandimal but that was not enough to stop the Air Force side.

Nuwan Perera once again staged a repetition of his earlier attempt in the other side of the ground to get the next try for his team as the lead extended by a further two points (20-8).

The infringements in the rucks by CH & FC gifted Air Force another six more points as Charith Seneviratne kicked another two easy penalties to put his team further in front. (26-8)

The efforts of CH & FC finally reaped harvest when Janith Chandimal who went on to score the second try through the far left corner of the field. As he converted the try he scored, CH & FC were up by 7 points but it was too late to stage a comeback. The game concluded with CH & FC losing out their only possible chance to register a win in the Dialog Rugby League.
