The Saints Quadrangular Athletic Meet will be held on 7th and 8th November at St. Peter’s College Grounds.
The meet will feature athletes from St. Anthony’s College Katugastota, St Benedict’s College Colombo, St Joseph’s College Colombo and St Peter’s College Colombo.
The inaugural Saints Quadrangular Athletic Meet was held in 1985, with the Late Hon. Lalith Athulathmudali, Minister of National Security and acting Minister of Defence as the chief guest. The meet was conducted in three age groups; Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19. The hosts of the inaugural meet, St. Peter’s College emerged victorious with St. Joseph’s College as Runner up.
This year’s meet is being organised by the Track and Field Foundation of St. Peter’s College after a lapse of 25 years. The special feature of this year’s meet will be the participation of present school boys and old boys of the four schools.
For the school boys, events will be worked off in the Under 15, Under 17, Under 19 and Under 21 age groups. For the old boys, events will be held in the Over 40, Over 50 and ‘Open’ categories.
A number of prominent athletes from years gone by are expected to participate in the events. The meet is expected to be filled with friendly rivalry and camaraderie, with high spectator interest in all the events to be worked off.
The organizers are cordially inviting the Old Boys from the respective schools and the parents to come and be part of the excitement.
